Wow, so last week was a catch-up week, and it's amazing how "things" can easily take priority! Last Monday, after posting, around 2 p.m. the boys and I were leaving to do errands, and I realized my keys were missing. Um, I kind of need those! Ju Ju has a habit of "storing" things for us, so the big boys and I began the search. At 5 p.m., we still hadn't found the keys and the electricity went out. Huh? So, a quick call to DH assured that pizza would arrive with him, and we kept looking for keys. SWK and I took time for a quick game of ConnectFour and Battleship while the little boys played with big blocks. Of course, all of this was by candlelight. Very Abe Lincoln-ish (nevermind the fact that Connect Four and Battleship weren't invented when Abe was reading by candlelight!) After a bit, I realized that the keys were not going to be found (oh, and yes, we did stop and pray!), so I broke out my reading light and Leviticus. I read all of the book of Leviticus on Monday. Can I just get an AMEN on the whole-being-so-very-grateful-that-Jesus-came?
So, long story short, we finally found the keys at 8:45 that night (!). All the while, Bounce kept asking, "Isn't Ju a good hider?" Um, yeah. Oh, and the offender? I would ask him where they were, and he would shrug his shoulders and say, "Um.." and walk off. It's a good thing he's cute!
I read Numbers over a couple of days and I kept remembering what a former supervisor kept reminding us: "I know you all are just interested in the spiritual part of meeting students, but numbers count! There's a whole book in the Bible dedicated to them!"
Saturday and Sunday were dedicated (no pun intended) to the book of Deuteronomy and the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one God...) was even referenced in our pastor's sermon on the Trinity. I was reminded even more as I read Deut. 6 of why we homeschool.
I have a couple of more thoughts on Deuteronomy, but I think I'll hold onto those today. It's onto Joshua this afternoon and tonight. I'm on Day 16, so I'm still a couple of days behind. If you're joining me and are caught up: YAY! and what have you given up to keep up? If you're like me and are a tad behind, what will it take for you to catch up? AND don't give up! God's Word is so full of encouragement and so many reminders of His grace. Give yourself a little grace and just jump back in. Even if you don't finish in 90 days, if you don't give up, you WILL finish!
Head on over to Mom's Toolbox to check in with some other readers.
I am all caught up I have been finding I have to set an appointment time and keep it like I would a doctor's appointment that way my reading gets done.
ReplyDeleteMy little one lost my keys once and 2 years later they still haven't been found! Glad you found yours.
ReplyDeleteLove this line, "If you don't give up, you will finish!" Thx for sharing that.
Amen! I am very grateful that Jesus came. I'm caught up in my reading, but that happened later on Sunday evening. (I read in the evening after everyone is in bed.) While I'm giving up some sleep to get the reading done, I'm sleeping better, and I know that it's the right thing to do for me.
ReplyDeleteMay God bless you this week as you continue with reading His Word.
