I *heart* Sharpie Markers

I'm being brave again today and joining Works For Me Wednesday over at We Are THAT Family.

This is not a paid post (that is just laughable that anyone would pay me to write about anything). That being said, I love office supplies. I love office supply stores and the office supply aisles at department stores (namely, "The Wal-marts"). I particularly love (not like I love Jesus, DH or the kiddos (or even my dogs)) Sharpie markers. We use them a lot around our house, so we have several handy. Sometimes, too handy as the artist in the family tries to use them in various places that aren't meant for Sharpie (permanent) markers. Since I do some freezer-cooking (extra chili, etc. that I freeze for later use), I usually write on the freezer bags or on a label to remind myself what I've stored. But as I mentioned in an earlier post, sometimes my thoughts don't actually have a follow-through. I might be headed to get the Sharpie to label something and something else shinier gets my attention. Invariably, there will be something in the freezer that's kind of a "hmm, hope this is still good" package.

All this to say, I would encourage you to keep a Sharpie close to the freezer. I, *always* mark my freezer stuff. Except that Tuesday morning, I put some blueberries in a bowl with some soy milk for Ju Ju, and some Fiber One cereal with blueberries and soy milk in a bowl for me. My first thought as I poured the frozen blueberries in the bowl, "Man, I love these fat, plump berries! I'm so glad we took the time to pick them this summer!" Then, I caught a whiff, and thought the blueberries smelled a little off, but I knew they were good since we'd just had some the day before. Thankfully, I took a bite of my "blueberries" before Ju Ju did and realized why they smelled a little "off." Olives are good, just not with milk!

Sharpies (and actually finishing the labeling) work for me! Click on over to We Are THAT Family to see what works for other people!

  1. I keep a permanent marker in my silverware drawer for just that reason! Very handy!

  2. Yes, this is a great tip! I'm also in the habit of keeping a sharpie in the kitchen, since that's exactly where I often need it!

  4. You are too funny! I'm guessing they weren't green olives, or you really would have thought they were 'off,' LOL!
